Do you have Mold, Lead or Asbestos in Your House?

Molds are part of the natural environment. Outdoors, molds break down dead organic matter... but indoors, mold growth can be very dangerous & cause expense damage. Mold begins growing indoors when mold spores land on surfaces that are wet.

Mold causes Health Problems

Molds produce substances that can cause allergic reactions, irritants and potentially toxic substances. Inhaling or touching mold may cause allergic reactions. Symptoms appear as sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash. Molds may cause asthma attacks in people with asthma who are allergic to mold. Mold exposure irritates the eyes, skin, nose, throat, and lungs of both mold-allergic and non-allergic people.

Getting Rid of Mold

The first step is to eliminate the water/moisture that allows Mold to grow. Following that first step, the rest involves cleaning & treating the surfaces to kill any existing mold spores in a way to ensure they will not return. Again, the key is finding & fixing any moisture problems because mold spores will not grow if moisture is not present. If you clean up the mold, but don't fix the water problem, then, most likely, the mold problem will come back.
Biocides are substances that can destroy living organisms. The use of a chemical or biocide that kills organisms such as mold (chlorine bleach, for example) is not recommended for mold cleanup. In most cases, it is not possible or desirable to sterilize an area. If you choose to use disinfectants or biocides, always ventilate the area and exhaust the air to the outdoors. Never mix chlorine bleach solution with other cleaning solutions or detergents that contain ammonia because toxic fumes could be produced.

If you already have a Mold problem, you must TAKE ACTION QUICKLY... Mold will damage your home wherever it grows... The longer it goes un-checked, the more damage & more expensive it will be to clean-up. Choose a service provider who is experienced and is aware of all the requirements needed to complete a mold clean-up. AMD environmental follows the guidelines of the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygenists and has a Certified Industrial Hygienist on call too.
